Mary Dillion Davey, age 91, of Arlington, Texas passed away surrounded by her family on August 30, 2022. She was born on June 12, 1931 to Harry and Florence (Holycross) Dillion in Marysville, Ohio. Mary was the ninth of twelve children and spent most of her childhood in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. She graduated from Marseilles High School in 1949. After graduation, she moved to upstate New York before finally settling in Arlington, Texas.
Being a stay-at-home Mom was her favorite past time, although her days as a waitress were also immensely gratifying. Mary had a passion for dogs, especially Yorkies. She spent many hours watching birds fly to and from her many birdfeeders, and loved taking care of her beautiful flowers in her yard as well as sitting on the patio enjoying them. “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price Is Right” were her favorite television shows. She enjoyed cheering on the Texas Rangers, her favorite baseball team.
While living on the farm in Tracy Creek, New York, Mary loved horseback riding and boarding horses for others. She always enjoyed company, the outdoors and taking care of her farmhouse. Mary’s greatest joys in life were sharing time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fond of cooking everyone’s favorite dish, drinking coffee, eating pie and sewing handmade quilts. She was often found with a child or two on her lap.
Our Mom was beyond beautiful both on the inside and outside. She had a heart of gold and an unforgettable smile (“Sine Pari” – without equal).
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Florence Dillion; brothers Harold, Harry, James Leo and Leonard; sisters Louise, Margaret, Carrie, Virginia, Imogene, Patricia and Charlotte.
She is survived by her five children who all reside in Texas; Diane Davey of Parker; Karen Dean of Arlington; Mary Lou Silveira of Arlington, George W. Davey, III (Alicia) of Maypearl and Matthew Davey (Jenny) of Venus.
Her grandchildren include George W. Davey, IV (Prany), Courtney Ward (Rocky), Brittany Silveira, Josh Davey (Amanda), George Jose Davey, and Steven Davey. She also had nine great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Karen Dean’s home, 5114 Wareham Drive, Arlington, Texas 76017. Please bring or send a keepsake note to the celebration which includes a memory, story or how you met Mary Dillion Davey.
In lieu of flowers, please hang a bird feeder or two or plant beautiful flowers.
