Nan was REAL! She was one of those people who never put on heirs, or pretended to be something she wasn't. She was HUMBLE. She was SELFLESS. No one was ever intimidated by her because she put you at ease the  moment you met her. She was always talking about Uncle Danny. Oh how she LOVED YOU UNCLE DANNY! She loved Mema too and she would drop anything she was doing to support anything you two needed. Nan understood the value of relationships. She understood that money and things didn't matter like people did. She never put materialism above her family. She did however ALWAYS LOOK IMMACULATE! Even when she was sick, she ALWAYS LOOKED BEAUTIFUL! She was grace. She was beauty. Her beauty was unlike anyone else I had ever met. It was a presence  that changed the room and made people more kind to one another when she was there. She never held grudges. She always saw the best in others, and expected them to live up to their potential. I loved her so~! I am so sad she is gone. Our family will never be the same. This life, though impossibly painful at times, is only a "breath". For on the other side waits eternity for those who believe in the Lord. I look forward to seeing her after this "breath".

I love you very much and miss you, and Bodie and Drew as well. I loved seeing you at Mema's funeral and wish I could know you more. My mom has always talked about you and how wonderful you were to her as a little a little girl and how she thought all men were as great as you. My memories of you and Nan are all  of stories you shared about your lives while at Mema's house. I remember what wonderful care she took of Drew while he was in the hospital, and how he trusted her. I remember how dauntless the two of you were, nothing seemed too hard for you and you worked so hard. I remember feeling safe when Nan was around knowing that she would treat everyone with grace and serve us selflessly. Dan, We all feel cheated, and will for a long time. I loved Nan, and while I didn't get to see her as much as Kathy, I miss her as we all do. My love for you has always been there. Nan was such a beautiful, classy, and personable LADY. I stress LADY because she always saw the best in everyone. She'll be missed here, but GOD must be rejoicing her presence with HIM.

I WAS SO SORRY TO HERE ABOUT NAN. I WORKED WITH HER IN FORT WORTH WHEN SHE FIRST CAME FROM LUBBOCK. I DIRECTED HER TO GO TO THE OFFICE IN DALLAS THAT WOULD BE CLOSER TO HER HOME, WHICH WAS THE OFFICE I HAD ORIGINALLY CAME FROM.  I AM A TECH ALUM, AND WE OFTEN WOULD TALK ABOUT THAT AND THE LUBBOCK AREA. WHEN SHE LEFT THIS OFFICE I COUGHT UP WITH HER ON OCCASION WHEN WE HAD A CLASS TOGETHER AT THE TRAINING CENTER, AND WE WOULD TALK OF WHAT WAS GOING ON IN DALLAS AND FORT WORTH.  I LOST MY MOTHER TO CANCER 2 YEARS AGO WHICH WAS VERY SIMILAR TO A LOT OF THE SAME ISSUES NAN WENT THROUGH. I knew Nan from her Southwestern Bell days in Lubbock. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and she made work pleasant for all of us. I was very sad to learn of her passing and would like to extend my deepest sympathy to all her loved ones.

I had the honor and privilege of being Nan's friend, she was one of a kind!  Oh how I enjoyed our talks.  I still remember the last time I saw Nan was at Home Depot several years ago, she was in town helping out her Mom paint, and how we blocked the aisles just visiting and trying to catch up on the years we had lost. I've enjoyed the benefit of meeting Nan hearing my sister and Nan's co-worker speak fondly of her. Nan was generous, beautiful and dignified with a keen eye for fashion and loved to shop for herself and others.

We have been recounting fond memories of when Nan worked with us here in the Engineering office in Lubbock. 

I always enjoyed talking baseball with her, whether it was about her dad and his days coaching little league, Seth and his progression or the Texas Rangers. Nan was always kind and gracious!

Such a "Lady"!!!! My closet is full of memories of this wonderful woman. From clothes to shoes to purses and so on. Not only did she leave such memorable moments, but she left the legacy of what it's like to be a lady and a friend that fights to the end. I have not been in touch with Nan for a long time and only worked with her at AT&T for a short time...but we had a connection. Nan was and is the most beautiful lady inside and out that I have ever met. She was always so thoughtful and sweet. She was unchanging in her ways and you could always count on her. Even though we did not continue to be close as the years moved on, and we moved to different cities, everytime she saw me at the Class Reunions for LHS, she and I would be drawn together to visit for a time and it was always such a memorable visit we had. I loved her very much. Sharing friendship with her was such a pleasure.She came to me this reunion (2010)  beautiful as ever and always with dignity, and shared the fact that she had not been well, but had hopes. What a wonderful person Nan was and will always be in my mind. God has taken away her pain now. I pray God will ease the pain and sorrow for Danny and their children.
