Patsy Ruth Lincoln Lewis, age 83 of Arlington, passed away peacefully at her home on January 18, 2020, with her family at her side. She was born on September 22, 1936, in Sundown, Texas, and grew up in Levelland, Texas, the daughter of Zack O. Lincoln and Retha Wood Lincoln. Patsy married Michael Meriwether Lewis, and he preceded her in death in 2008. Patsy was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Leona Goyette.
Patsy was a gentle, loving soul and cared for everyone’s happiness and shared that passion with her family. She seemed to know what was unique about you and shared that freely, letting you know you are loved. Patsy especially loved children and pursued her passion of helping children throughout her life in her work, as a teacher and pre-school director, and her personal life. She earned her bachelor’s degree in early education at Texas Tech.
She loved and nurtured many people within her family, but she also “adopted” children and grandchildren throughout her life, taking them under her wing too. She loved flowers, gardening, and nature. When you visited her, the first thing she would do is invite you to walk the yard and see her garden. When she came to visit anyone, she was interested to see how your garden was doing. The last few years, her daily stroll around the living room included checking on her flowers outside the window and what birds were in the tree. She also loved country, bluegrass, gospel, and cowboy music. Patsy and her family traveled to many places during the 24 years that her husband served in the Air Force and experienced grand adventures together. Still, she always held a special place in her heart for West Texas, and a sunset with a windmill brought back fond memories of home.
Patsy is survived by her daughters Rev. Michelle Renee Holtmann and husband Michael George and Ms. Lee Gene Shqeir; grandchildren Branden Shqeir, Michael Dale Holtmann and fiancé Melissa, and Maggie Rose Perkins and husband Eric; great-grandchildren Michael David Holtmann and Harmony Elaine Holtmann; sisters Ellie Dryden and husband Bill, Martha Lynn Harris, and Rev. Kay Lincoln; as well as many loving family and friends.
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held later in the spring on April 3rd when the flowers are blooming. The family will share additional details in the coming months.
