Paul Allen Hollis, 81, of Fort Worth, Texas, was welcomed into Heaven on November 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born on October 10, 1944, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Richard Martin Hollis and Frances Nelita (Neyland) Hollis. He grew up in Jasper, Texas, where he developed the values of hard work, faith, and service that would define his life.
In 1967, Paul was drafted into the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of E5 and served with distinction as a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. His crew regularly flew into hot zones to drop off and extract soldiers, and Paul was honored for his quick thinking and decisive actions that saved the lives of several soldiers and helicopters. His bravery and dedication during this time exemplified his character and commitment to others.
On December 28, 1968, Paul married the love of his life, Carolyn Hampton. Their marriage of 57 years was a beautiful testament to love, partnership, and shared adventure. Together, they traveled to nearly all 50 states, explored countless National Parks, and journeyed internationally to Scotland, England, and Israel, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
In 1976, Paul and Carolyn welcomed their son, Mike, completing their family and beginning a legacy that would span generations.
Paul's love of flying, sparked during his military service, led him to a distinguished career in aircraft maintenance and inspection. He held an Associate's Degree from Tyler Junior College and an A&P Certificate from Spartan School of Aeronautics. Throughout his career, he worked for prestigious companies including Boeing and McDonnell Douglas, where his expertise and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Whether working on small personal aircraft or large commercial planes, Paul's passion for aviation never wavered.
A devout Christian, Paul served faithfully in many churches over the years, taking on various roles with humility and dedication. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. He also gave generously of his time to his community, serving on several city and community boards, always looking for ways to make a positive difference.
Paul had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. He never knew a stranger and could talk for hours, sharing stories from his remarkable life with warmth and humor. His conversations were peppered with his famous one-liners that family and friends will always remember: "Don't mention it…to anybody" and "Come back when you can stay longer."
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn (Hampton) Hollis; his son, Mike Hollis, and daughter-in-law, Amanda; his cherished grandchildren: Holly (Hollis) Ogunyomi and her husband, Emmanuel; Elijah Hollis; Travis Hollis and his wife, Anna; Riley Hollis; Jordan Hollis; and Nikki Hollis. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Hollis, and his wife, Margaret; his sister-in-law, Nancy Carson; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Frances (Neyland) Hollis, and his parents-in-law, Clifford and LaVada Hampton.
Paul's true legacy is not measured in accomplishments or accolades, but in the lives he touched and the values he instilled in the generations that follow. He raised his son to be a man of character and integrity, who in turn has raised children who carry forward Paul's example of faith, service, and love. His legacy will continue in the way his grandchildren raise their own children, making the world a better place and, as Paul would hope, helping to make Heaven crowded.
A visitation will be held at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, located at 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016, on December 6, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 2:00 pm. A committal service is scheduled for December 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
