Ray Douglas Blaskowsky, loving husband, father, and grandpa, passed from this life on November 14 just two weeks after his 80th birthday. He was born to Andy and Anna Blaskowsky on November 1, 1945 in Raymondville, Texas. He graduated from San Benito High School in 1964 and attended Texas A&I Kingsville right after.
Ray and his wife Barbara both attended San Benito High School, but he was, at the time, a “lowly underclassman” two years behind her when she graduated. Years later, when her daughter Becky was a senior at that same high school, she came home one day and told her mother that she had found a part-time job working downtown at Ray Blaskowsky’s glass shop. According to family lore, Becky soon took on the additional job of finding Ray a suitor and was determined that it would be her own mother, Barbara. Ray and Barbara reunited shortly after and were married later that year on June 30, 1984.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Rebecca “Becky” Ann Powell, and grandson Garrett Hysmith. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Blaskowsky, daughter Cathy Garcia and son-in-law Elpy, five grandchildren including KC and grandson-in-law Josh, Thomas, Tristan, Chloe, and Camryn, and two great-grandchildren Avery and Ezra.
