Shirley Scott, was born on April 13, 1936 to Earl Ethel Jenkins and Ira E. Jenkins in Wiergate Texas. The Jenkins family moved to Beaumont,Texas, where Shirley graduated from Charlton Polard High School in 1955. Falling in love and marrying her high school sweetheart, Leon Scott, Shirley and Leon moved to Pontiac, Michigan to start a family. Her four children are, Cherry, Butch (Leon, Jr.), Ronald and Sharon. Starting her career in education in 1966, she obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. Shirley joined Delta Sigma Theta sorority in 1988 and retired at age 70.
Shirley finished her golden years by returning to her home state of Texas at age 87 with daughter, Cherry, husband, Darron, and daughter, Darrien. In Texas, family members spent time with Shirley sharing love, laughter, good music, good food, and conversations creating precious memories that will forever last of our Beloved Shirley. Shirley will be missed by daughter, Cherry Jones; Darron, Son, Leon Jr.; Gwen, and Son Ronald; Vendella. Sisters, Eva, Dora, brother, Curtis, Grandchildren, Darrien, Christopher, Clarissa, Jaela, Zai, and a loving host of nieces and nephews
A visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A committal service will occur Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N Davis Dr, Arlington, TX 76012.
