

Her family history reflected both entrepreneurship and scholarship- her grandfather founded one of the first tobacco companies in Japan and served as a tutor to Meiji emperor, was a diplomat, and was an accomplished artist.
Antonia retired from the World Bank after 30 years of dedicated service and had the distinction of being one of the first Japanese nationals hired by the institution. Her career reflected both her professionalism and dedication.
In her younger years, she was an avid skier. Throughout her life, she pursued many passions, including duplicate bridge in which she greatly excelled and played in tournaments. As a gourmet cook, she was especially renowned for her Chinese dishes which she prepared with great care and flair. She was a great fan of Italian opera as well as classical ballet finding great pleasure in the performing arts.
Antonia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter J. Lord. She is survived by her daughter Diana Ellyn and her son-in-law Nicholas.
