I thank God in heaven for my Uncle Charlie.  I was privileged to know and love him for 50+ years.  I have many warm memories of Uncle Charlie at my Grandmother's home, family functions, and holiday celebrations over the years.  One of my favorite Christmas traditions has become Uncle Charlie and Aunt Judy's "Come See the Tree" party, always a festive event!  Uncle Charlie was always warm, welcoming, hospitable, and interested to catch up with me and my family.  I'll never forget his big personality, beautiful smile, and that mischievous sparkle in his eyes.  Uncle Charlie was a special part of my Titus family heritage, and I will always hold him close in my heart and memories.   

It’s been a grand adventure with you & Judy, Charlie. While I’m saddened that we couldn’t make more memories, Bear and I are grateful that your suffering has ended and that you’ll be able to watch over all of us now, without pain and without suffering. We’re sure going to miss you, buddy.

Hi Charlie,
    Thank you for allowing us hula dancers to invade your space for practice.  Don't worry about Judy, we are all here for her if she needs us.  Rest in peace.

Any uncle with a bear skin rug, a head of red hair, a pinball machine, and his own personal view of the mountains is a little larger than life. I always mostly thought of Uncle Charlie as my dad's big brother, sharing life in ways only brothers do and loving with brother love. When we said goodbye to my dad, Uncle Charlie was there, even though it wasn't easy for him. I was grateful for the gift of his presence and the familiar "Titus eyes" like my dad's. What a long battle Uncle Charlie fought, making me proud of the strength and determination he showed and his choice to optimistically and courageously continue on.  

I love this early picture of Uncle Charlie, Aunt Pat, and my dad in Arlington, when they were young and full of only optimism and hope and the seeds of determination. I hope I can live with that same characteristic Titus determination.

You're the man who made sure I became a hunter. I owe my career to this fact, and I will never forget it. I sit in elk camp now, having just shot the seventh bull of my life. I wish you were here. Rest easy, old buddy, until we share hunting camp again.

I will miss seeing you relaxing on the sofa while all of the hula dancers traipsed through your peaceful man-cave for practice sessions.  Thank you for supporting Judy and all of us in our love of Hawaiian culture and dance. We will all miss you but we know you are at peace now after the long battle.  Aloha.

While I didn't see Charlie often, I have know him for many years.  He married my closest cousin, Judy.  He was always smiling and joking.  Sometimes he would be serious and mentor me on a variety of issues.  He was always helping people in various ways.  We will miss you Charlie and you will always be in our memories.  Love you,

I missed you before you left . The more I got to know you , I dreaded losing you. I loved coming to visit you and my daily phone calls . It was always honest and fun and I always took something away from our talks. As everyone has said you were funny and if you were someones friend , it was with a fierce loyalty .  you made me feel safe and I truly loved bouncing all my ideas off you and Judy. Judy and I would get to talking and I still laugh at you getting frustrated and saying " I can't get a word in because we were like hens" LOL

Charlie, my dear freckled face, red headed older brother.  My, the times we had when we were little!  Just a little more than a year older than me, we were more like the Bobbsey twins, always getting into playful mischief together.  As we grew older, we always maintained that childhood bond.  You were always there for me and my family.  You mentored so many people and encouraged them to enrich their lives and become self sufficient, successful individuals.  You fought a courageous battle because you loved life so much.  I'm sorry you had to endure so much pain, but now you are freed from your misery.

I will miss you immensely in the future, as I do already.  I miss my Saturday morning phone call from you when we solved all the world's problems.  However, I am also thankful you are no longer suffering from the physical pain and mental frustration of not being able to do all the things you enjoyed so much.

Rest in Peace my dear brother.  To know you is to love you and I feel proud and truly blessed to have had you as my brother and best friend.

I will always love and remember you, and have some really great memories growing up listening to your jokes and learning from your experiences.  This has been particularly helpful later in my life, and I will do my best to uphold your lightheartedness and apply what I have learned to the future.  I will always be there for Tutu as well and to make more memories, I'm sure with you watching over us.  I love both of you very much, and I will miss you dearly.

All of the wonderful tributes to Charlie reflect the kind-hearted, fun-loving, classmate we knew at Washington-Lee High School.  Despite his weakened condition, he attended our 60th Reunion Seotember 8. He was loyal to the end and will now be welcomed by the ever-growing number of his classmates for their eternity reunion.

I met Charlie only two times in my life, the first time at his wedding to my cousin Judy, and the last time about a year and a half ago when he was fighting the noble fight against cancer.  I am sorry I didn't know him in the prime of his life, but I could still tell what a warm and fun loving person he was.  Always up for a good joke and a reason to laugh.  He was very nice to me, and he certainly was a charmer.  I am sure that Charlie had many other gifts and talents, but one of the things I have come to value very highly in this life is laughter and the people who provide it.  Thank you, Charlie.

Charlie was instrumental in being a father figure in my husband’s life.  He taught him so many things growing up and to this day, Mike values all he has learned from Charlie.   Mike will miss all the years hunting at the cabin with all the guys.  It was a great tradition and a lot of fun being up there in PA. Mike and I are forever grateful for all the love and support we received from Judy and Charlie! We have so many fond memories of the times we shared.  Charlie definitely had a sense of humor and knew how to make people laugh. I don’t think we ever saw him without a smile on his face.  We are so blessed that we were able to see him before he left this earth and tell him how much we loved him. Our hearts go out to Judy, mommy Patricia and all those who had the privilege of knowing him and being a part of his life.

Mr. Charlie- always had a smile and a joke. I am blessed to have met this wonderful man. A great Husband to a beautiful young lady, my dear friend and Sister Judy. I was fortunate to have spent several days with Charlie and Judy and  mr. Charlie welcomed me like a family and truly he is like an older Brother. He carried this hula girl on his chest wherever he went. But I have to tell you, I have to admit, she can dance.

Uncle Charlie was such a gentleman and so funny, always joking around. Every time I opened the door, he was sitting at the same spot on couch and greeted me with big smiles! Thank you, uncle Charlie! I’ll miss you! Love and Aloha. - Tomoko

I never had the privilege of meeting Charlie in person but from my first phone call with him about listing  his property in Florida I liked him from that point on! Every time I spoke with him, he made me smile!  I had an offer on a vacant lake lot in Avon Park (which I ended up buying) and a buyer called and said; “I’ll write him a check for $40,000 right now”.  When I called Charlie and told him about the offer he said;  “You tell him to go ahead and write that check out but not with my name on it!”  I laughed so hard! I’m going to miss Charlie and regret that I never got to meet him in person.
