Dottie Snead Wagner

Dottie S. Wagner, 94, of Lakewood Ranch, FL transitioned peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on January 8, 2026. She is with her family that predeceased her: Carl Snead, Husband; Lt. Col. Richard D. Wagner, Husband; Doug Snead, Son; and Chip, infant Grandson. She was at Tidwell Hospice at the time of her passing.

Dottie was born June 9, 1931, to Thomas Pond and Lucy Ann Chapman in Bluefield, West Virginia. After moving to Virginia and finishing school, she married her High School sweetheart, Carl. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing and cooking and entertaining while married to Carl.

After Carl’s untimely death, she married Richard Wagner, another High School friend, after reuniting at a reunion and eventually moved permanently to Florida. She and Richard loved traveling together throughout the world, and did a great amount of it. She was a resident of The Summit, an assisted living facility, for the past four plus years where both she and Richard had lived until his passing in November 2023.

Dottie was a generous and loving Mother to Nancy Bailey (Dave); Doug Snead (Sue); Lee Snead (Bonnie), and a devoted Grandmother to K.C. Gandee (Courtney) Scott Snead; Carleigh and Randi Snead.

Dottie loved her family deeply and was an avid reader, golfer, and bridge player all of her life. She loved everyone she met and would start a conversation with you on moment’s notice. Dottie was also interested in politics and loved service members and veterans. Please make contributions to Tunnel to Towers, a Homeless Veteran’s Program or The Breast Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers in Dottie’s name.

A Memorial Service will be held on January at 26th 2026 at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W Broad Street, Falls Church, Virgina. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm for immediate family, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel. This will be followed by a graveside service at National Memorial Park 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, Virginia at 3:00pm where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Carl.
