

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 12, 1946, Liz was the eldest of seven children of Joseph and Elizabeth Cashman. She attended Ursuline Academy for high school and continued her education at Becker Junior College. After college, Liz moved to Washington, D.C., where she held various roles, including positions with the CIA and a downtown law firm.
It was in Washington, D.C., that Liz met her beloved husband of 41 years, James Edmonds. The couple settled in Arlington, Virginia, where they raised their daughter, Kelly, who was the light of their lives. Liz and James shared a love of boating, deep-sea fishing, and golf, creating countless cherished memories as a family.
Their love for fishing brought them to Ocean City, Maryland, where they spent summers on their cherished boat, Midnight Hour. Liz became an accomplished fisherwoman, earning recognition and winning several tournaments throughout her fishing career. In later years, Liz and James spent their winters in Jupiter, Florida, enjoying warm weather and time on the golf course.
Liz was known for her incredible warmth, hospitality, and dedication to creating a beautiful home. She embraced the role of “the hostess with the mostess,” taking immense pride in entertaining and bringing joy to those around her.
Liz is survived by her daughter, Kelly Edmonds, of Alexandria, Virginia; her granddaughter, Willa-James; and her siblings: Mary Ellen Cashman of New York City, New York; Colleen Aull of Newport, Rhode Island; Joseph Cashman of Monroe Bridge, Massachusetts; and Daniel Cashman of Sterling, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Liz was predeceased by her husband, James Edmonds; her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Cashman; and her brother, Brian Cashman.

A celebration of Liz’s life will be held on February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s in Arlington, Virginia.
