Frances E. Neuhaus

Frances Ethel Neuhaus was born January 16, 1935 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She passed away on Monday January 30, 2012 with her family at her side. Frances is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She spent her early years in eastern Colorado on the family farm with her parents and two siblings,. Later she moved to the mountains of southern Colorado where she spent the remainder of her childhood and young adulthood.

In 1956 she married Glenn Neuhaus in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Frances supported her husband in his military career as they left Colorado they traveled to London England, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and finally setting in Falls Church Virginia where they spent the rest of their lifes. Her true profession was raising and supporting her children Mike, Ron, Debbie, Bruce and Keith. As her children grew up and moved out to start their own lives, her love for raising her own family brought her to working with other children at the Falls Church-McLean child care center. Frances’s love for children drew her to spend the next twenty years dedicating her life to working at the Falls Church-McLean child care center.

Frances had several hobbies to include crocheting, knitting, spending time outdoors, reading for herself and to her children. She developed mastery in crocheting and knitting, making several works of art for her family and friends. She was also a master cook in the kitchen. Her specialty in the kitchen was her apple pie, she could never bake enough to keep up with her five children’s and a grandchildren’s ever growing appetites. She was a selfless individual who devoted her life to her family.

Funeral services are scheduled on, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Arlington Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203. A private family burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
