Frederic W. Foss

Fred Foss of Falls Church, Va., loving husband of Belinda Nichols, died on February 20. The cause was heart failure, according to his wife. He was 77. Mr. Foss was born in Elyria, Ohio, to Gordon William and Marian Lorraine (Bostrom) Foss. He graduated from Ohio State University and subsequently served six years in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked for many years as a database administrator at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. He married Ms. Nichols in 2004 and was a loving stepfather and step-grandfather. After retiring in 2010, Mr. Foss enjoyed raising horses, playing with his grandchildren and boating on the Occoquan River. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle until his wife asked him to sell it. Besides his wife, Mr. Foss is survived by his sisters Jan Trammel of Elyria, Ohio, and Patti Sutherland of Peoria, Ariz.; stepdaughter Ashley Anne (Kirk) Hunt of Ellicott City, Md.; stepson James Neal Kirk of Washington, D.C.; and step-grandchildren Haley Anne Hunt, Ethan Jonathan Hunt, Giselle Gracelynn Hunt and Clara Rose Hunt.
