Just learned of your passing, Tim. Sorry. But we’ve had one helluvva’ ride — and for that I’m eternally grateful v

It began as 14-year old kids in Means Cabin at Camp Atwater, MA. Baltimore was light years away from my Boston home, but we immediately bonded over those two summers . Reunited in 1949 on same floor of Howard’s freshman dormitory, we cemented our relationship 

I’ll never forget your excitement as you later ecstatically shared the thrill of breaking the sound barrier.  And years later, thought I admittedly not a supporter of the Vietnam War, I so proud of you and your combat  accomplishments,  featured in that national magazine. 

Back in DC,, you organized several Classs reunions, invited me to your retirement ceremony. 

I could go on and on, but …

I’ve lost a lifelong friend, but not our shared memories and experiences. You never forgot where you came from,Tim, and my life is richer because of you.

Rest in peace, Tim. You’ve earned it.

Dear Tim, thanks for the inspiration, the memories and the glorious path you blazed for me and countless others.

I am so blessed to have been able to glean so much wisdom from General Boddie.  Whether he was teaching about military leadership at the Tuskegee Airmen Conventions to the military volunteers or he was teaching me what a woman of honor, character and respect looked like with every story of his beautiful wife.  It has been my pleasure and honor to know him.  

I pray blessings for his family.  Soar high General Boddie.

It was an honor to know you, your wife, and Tim III along with the rest of your sons. You welcomed me into your home with my uncle Roy Lee Peters, which was like a brother to you. I will always cherish our last conversation from a couple of years ago and I will always remember you.

It was an honor to have know General Boddie during a brief period during his remarkable life of service. It is thanks to his son Colonel Bill Dwiggins, USMC (ret) that we got to know both his parents before their passing. He will be greatly missed, but his history lives on.

I was a young pilot training student at Williams AFB, Arizona and was invited to then Col Tim Boddie's home in Tucson. He and Mattie Boddie were so accommodating and inspirational that I committed to finishing pilot training and remain in the Air Force. We continued to stay in touch throughout my Air Force Career. I have so many childhood and adult memories of my beloved Uncle Tim. He and Mattye always treated me as their own daughter and I treasured the times of reunion to be in their esteemed company. I was honored to have done my first researched school report on his achievements, particularly taken by his military service and featured article in Time Magazine as a revered, extraordinary soldier and pilot. I will miss him, but I am pleased that he is back in the arms of his sweet wife and so many of our ancestors. Rest In Paradise.

Following his distinguished military career, General "Tim" Boddie was a distinguished member and Senior Executive at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, Washington, DC. where he was responsible for advising the  Administration on various aspects of NASA's fleet and its formidable aviation capabilities. He was a dear friend, mentor, and an extraordinary human being. "Tim" had a passion for introducing young students to STEM disciplines and careers with a special passion for all things aviation and flight science. Kids loved him especially when he participated in full military dress. He was inspirational and indeed a difference-maker. He loved his family and spoke of them affectionately and often. He will be missed. R.I.P. General Boddie. Go now to your bride Mattye and your New Heavenly Assignment. Yours was a job well done.

We had such a great time when Uncle Tim came to town. Another happy moment captured. This was Mom's 80th birthday weekend .

Uncle Tim frequently came to California for a visit  in October. We  celebrated his 87th birthday at one of our favorite Steak houses. He had a blast. At evenings end, everyone  in the restaurant was part of the celebration. 

Dear family, our hearts, prayers, and especially fond memories, from the 1997 family reunion, at Calloway Gardens - Pine Mountain Georgia, go out to our extended family members, in honor of Brigadier General James Timothy Boddie!


He will be missed and never forgotten!

To General Boddie family,  I didn't know him personally, however I hear a lot of great things about him,  we did talk at the meeting from time to time I pray his family just lean on God at this time for direction and uplifting.  Winston  Solomon 

It was truly an honor to just be in his present and I will miss his laugh and his beautiful smile. The general was an amazing man and will be truly missed.

I am so honored to have been the General's physician for over 9 years. He was so special to the practice and the whole office lit up each time he had an appointment. He was always dressed up in a suit and tie, even on days he was sick. He was the consummate gentleman and it never wavered, even in times of not feeling well. He was also the second person I told I was pregnant after he sent me flowers for Mother's Day even though I had no children yet.  When I asked him how he knew, he said he just had a feeling and wanted to send joy my way and he was used to sending flowers to his beloved Maddie on Mother's Day.  I will forever cherish his memory and miss our time together. I know he is dancing up in heaven with his Beloved, right where he belongs.

Rest In Peace General Boddie. It has been an honor and pleasure knowing you all these years.  Thank you for your accomplishments, leadership and selfless service to our great nation.

BG Boddie was officer and a gentleman in every way.  A very wise man friendly to all around him. I am proud to have considered him a fellow Vietnam War veteran brother and a friend.

we also attended the F-86 Saber Pilots Reunion in Las Vegas with
our fellow Fighters and were also members of the  366 Gunfighters
Asso.  We will miss him dearly Jim and Jerrie Buehrig and also 
our Daughter Kathy and Mark Pearl who also knew  him well.

Brig Gen Boddie was a regular attendee at 12th Tactical Fighter Wing Association (Cam Ranh Bay AB, RVN) biennial reunions, most recently Sep 2021.  He will be missed at the next, but we will raise a glass to his distinguished career and the fond memories he left us.  The 12th TFW Assoc sends its condolences to the Boddie family and to Tim's many friends for your loss.

I have very fond memories of him including our last conversation in 2021. He was instrumental in my pursuit of my Air Force career. His connection to our family goes back to Baltimore growing up with my mother and meeting my father at Howard University as they started their military careers.

We met General Boddie at Aaron's commissioning on Sunday, 2 Jan. 2022 and was able to spend too short of time. We wish there could have been time to visit with him. 
Oh, mighty warrior, you have slipped the surly bonds of earth.
Rest easy, mighty warrior as you have completed your service to God & Country. For this we are eternally grateful.
