A year has gone bye so, so fast prayers and thoughts for the Reid family!!!

Dearest Chris and Lisa, I just cannot imagine your loss now. Reading Darla's comment that was so well said, with love and care. So many wonderful memories. I don't believe I ever met your Dad. But I remember your Mom was more like a movie star than mine. We had 5 kids and mine was always yelling or telling someone how to do it right. Your mother however, was always beautiful and seemed composed. I remember her from the black and white photos you have with her perfect hair and lipstick. I'm crying with you my friend. The only time I remember seeing her upset was when she had to tell you 'no, your father will agree with me'. I was just in Arlington a few weeks ago with the family that lived near Helene McCarthy's having a yard sale in the house that was my home-away-from-home..I brought home a rubber belt from Montgomery Wards [Mr. Richard-in heaven], a wooden duck from the gun cabinet, a walker, and some Catholic holigraphic pictures of Jesus and Mary [Mrs. Richard-in heaven], along with a few pots because she seemed to grow things from nothing. I pray you find comfort in the good memories also.

I am sorry to hear of your mother’s passing.

I don’t know if your mother realized what an iconic woman of her times, she was. I believe in her humility she was just doing what needed to be done. She balanced a career, loving home, and family with the highest of standard and success.

I always had great respect for her, she carried herself with authority while remaining graceful, polite and kind.

She is back in Preston’s embrace, what a beautiful marriage they had. My clearest memories of them are laughing, hugging and smiling while tending to chores in the kitchen together.

I know you will find peace in your memories. There are so many beautiful ones to choose from. Smile and cry……. cry some more……. then smile some more……

Your mom made the best lasagna. I asked her once for the recipe and she told me she didn’t have one. She put a little bit of this and a little bit of that in until it tasted right. 
Her and Preston were always good to me. I always wondered why they were strict on Chris, but now I know why. 😀
She always had the perfect Xmas tree. I wished I’d been there to see her reaction when one your uncles feel into it. 
I also remember the plastic covering on the furniture. I thought it was kinda strange but after having kids of my own, I totally understand now. 
I always enjoyed visiting your mom when I came home on leave or vacation. She always made me feel welcomed. 
I loved her and I’ll miss her. 
You two are in my thoughts and I’m here for you if you need me.
