Kathleen H. Ortino

She is survived by her daughter Florence (Tom ) Drake, Plano, Texas. three grandchildren, Katie (P.J.) Chavanu, Chicago, Ill, Joanne Drake of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jacqueline Drake of Denver, Colorado, her three precious great grandchildren, Olivia, Madeline, and Sophia Chavanu, Dwight(Joyce) Roche, nephew of Cherryhill, N.J.. Her brothers and sisters in law Leonard and Evangeline Ortino of Ann Arbor, Mi., Don and Ann Ortino of Easely, S.C., Lynn(Dick), Muskegon, MI, Stephanie(Kyle)Kittleson, Williamston, MI, Michael(Audrey)Ortino, Bill(Liz)Ortino, SC., John Ortino, AL, Susan Knight, Fl, Donna(Ted)Davis, Joseph(Linda)Turner, Mass.; Patricia(Bob)Giordano, NY, Shirley(Dennis)Daniels, CA and many other grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceeded in death by her husband of 42 years, Colonel John T. Ortino, sister, Mary and her brothers, James, Joseph and Terry.

She was born to Patrick and Katherine Campbell in 1923 in Edwardsville, Pa, became a Registered Nurse and served faithfully in WWII as a Lieutenant in the Philippines, where she met and married Colonel John Ortino. They lived in Eastchester, New York for 18 years, Tirennia, Italy, near Pisa, and were able to travel and visit their Italian relatives. Kathleen worked as a private duty nurse in several hospitals in Manhattan, Queens, Bronxville, New York and managed an OB-GYN practice in Hartsdale, New York.

Kathleen and her husband Jack, retired to Florida in 1978, and continued to travel and enjoy their friends for many happy years in Ranchero Village. They were both able to travel with their daughter, son in law and granddaughters. They especially loved their cruises with their granddaughters alone, introducing them to the wonderful sights of Europe and other great places.

For the last few years, she has immensely enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her great grandchildren, Olivia and Madeline. She eagerly awaited the birth of her third great grand daughter Sophia Kathleen. The girls entertained her and brought great joy to her for many delightful days and hours several times a year at holidays and summers. Her cats Miss Kitty and Cat kept her amused as well.

Kathleen was most appreciative of the great care she received from her Doctors, Nurses and Therapists. My family and I would especially like to thank Mary Shuey for rushing to my mother's side and staying with my Mom until I arrived. I can never express my gratitude for her compassionate, loving care to my mother.

I thank my dear cousin Lynn for her loving care to myself and my family at this time.

Kathleen was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7938. She loved her comrades in the VFW. I want to thank you very much for your friendship.

We thank each and every niece and nephew, friends in New York, Texas and relatives and military friends around the world who called and wrote over the years who so lovingly enriched her life. She will be greatly missed and most memorably remembered and loved by all.
