Born in Washington D.C., Larry grew up in Maryland and Miami Beach.
While waiting in line for a cup of coffee in 1968, Larry met the love of his life, Diana and embarked on an international journey, marrying into a French family. Together over 57 years, they shared an extraordinary love story of international adventure and family. Larry will be forever loved and cherished in Diana’s heart.
Larry loved his family and was immensely proud of them. He was a pillar of strength and father to three daughters and a son, who will forever carry on his legacy of love, integrity, and sense of family.
His love of the ocean, high intelligence, and inquisitive mind led him to pursue two engineering Master's degrees in mechanical and oceanography at Catholic University. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in both Washington, D.C. and the U.K.
Modest and humble, many are unaware of his notable and impactful career in the USA, Germany, and Luxembourg.
He had a diverse career, starting at NASA as a scientist working on the space station. He continued as a naval architect at the Navy Yard, then was a pioneer of oceanic energy projects at NOAA, and put his methodical skills to good use at the National Bureau of Standards. He then went abroad as lead scientist for the Navy Liaison Unit in Munich, Germany, and ended his career as supervisor of the construction of an aerodynamic wind tunnel for testing vehicles at General Motors in Luxembourg.
He retired to the French countryside in 2004 and traveled periodically back to the US to visit his children and grandchildren.
Known for his unwavering kindness, patience, and strength. He was part of the silent generation.
As spoken by those who knew and cared about him:
“ Larry était de ces hommes, d’un autre siècle, fait dans un bois qui n’existe plus aujourd’hui. Dans la forêt des êtres humains, il était un arbre plus beau, plus fort, plus grand. Une essence unique, qui ne repoussera pas. Il nous manque déjà.”
Larry lived and died a good man.
