

Lydia Alice Lemnitzer, 82, of Arlington, VA passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Lydia was born in Plattsburg, NY on May 19, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Colonel Jose and Monsita Berrios. She was a graduate of the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and received a Fulbright Scholarship to study music at the Conservancy of Rome.
Lydia and Bill (USMA, Class of 1951) embarked on a career in the military which she greatly enjoyed. When they settled in Arlington, she volunteered for several organizations and worked for First Virginia Bank as a Bank Manager. She loved music, gardening and was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was always happiest when family and friends gathered at her home.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, General William Lemnitzer, her sons; William (Sheila) of Burke, VA, Robert (Christine) of Alexandria, VA, and Michael of Boston, MA, grandchildren; Laura, Christopher, Elizabeth, Michael, and her niece Mary Berrios Valdes of Arlington.
Friends may call upon the family on Thursday, April 4, 2013, from 6 to 8 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 10 AM at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 3901 N Cathedral Lane, Arlington, VA 22203.
