Margaret “Marge” Ekern, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Arlington, Virginia. Her husband, Halvor O. Ekern, predeceased her in 2006. She is survived by her four children and their immediate family: M. Kay Ekern and her husband Nolan Sanchez from Winchester, VA; Bryan R. Ekern from Portland, OR; Holly N. Ekern and Ted Tolliver from Eugene, OR; and, Carol Ekern Connors and her husband, Paul J. Connors, who live in McLean, VA. She has one grandchild, Brendan H.E. Connors, residing and working in Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends and colleagues on Thursday, December 8, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at MURPHY FUNERAL HOMES, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA. Her funeral services and interment will be held at the Fort Myer Chapel and Arlington National Cemetery next year, date yet to be determined.
