April 16, 1948 - November 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a remarkable man – a devoted father whose spirit was shaped by adventure, curiosity and a deep love for the world around him.
Michael (“Mike”) Baron, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away peacefully, at home on November 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his son, David Saul Baron, step-son, Robert Fisher, III, and his brother, Richard Baron. He was predeceased by his parents, Saul and Jeanne Baron.
A product of New York City’s vibrant intellectual community, Mike attended the prestigious Bronx High School of Science, where his exceptional talent, curiosity, and drive placed him among the top young minds of his generation. His academic journey continued at Cornell University, which he entered at just 16 years old – a testament to both his brilliance and his unshakable determination. He graduated at the age of 20 and began a distinguished lifelong career dedicated to supporting the United States Navy.
The ocean has always been Mike’s sanctuary. Scuba diving brought him peace, wonder and that spark of excitement he carried into everything he did. Beneath the waves, he found beauty most people never get to see, and he shared that magic with his son. Sailing offered him the same freedom – a chance to move with the wind, feel the sun on his face, the horizon ahead, and the quiet joy of being carried by the sea he loved so deeply.
He was equally at home in the snow. Skiing wasn’t just a hobby; it was a tradition he loved passing on. He cherished those times on the mountain and making memories with the people he loved. No matter where he went, the moments he treasured most were the ones where his son was at his side.
Mike’s love of sports was also a lifelong thread connecting him to the people he loved. Sports were more than games – they were moments of connection, joy and togetherness. From coaching his son’s baseball teams, cheering in the stands to playing catch in the yard and watching his NY Giants and Yankees play, he showed up – for his son, for his loved ones, and for anyone who needed him.
The same curiosity, discipline, and quiet courage that defined his life as a father also guided him throughout an extraordinary professional career. His love of adventure wasn’t limited to the ocean or the mountains—he carried that spirit into his work, where he dedicated himself fully for more than five decades; first, as a propulsion/ordnance engineer at the Strategic Systems Program Office (SSP) of the U.S. Navy and was recognized as one of the Navy’s propulsion/ordnance experts. After retiring from the Navy, he joined EMCUBE Inc., a company responsible for providing unique and extensive technical and program support to the Strategic Systems Program for the U.S. Fleet Ballistic Missile Weapon System and rose to serve as President of the company.
For over 50 years, he devoted his talents, his energy and his heart to the Navy as a trusted civilian and corporate executive who mentored many younger employees over the years and continued to advance the mission long after others had retired.
Though his journey here has ended, the love he shared continues. It lives on in the stories, the lessons, and the countless moments that shaped who his son is today. And it lives on in every horizon his son will explore, knowing his father is forever part of the adventure.
Mike will be remembered for his incredible intelligence, dedication, sharp wit, and above all, his love and caring for his family and friends.
He will be sincerely missed.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place December 18, 2025, 11:00 am, at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, VA.
