

Arlington, VA – Mr. Rodrigo (Rod) P. Vicente, 73, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia following an open heart surgery resulting in complications that led to a multi-organ failure.
Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, son of Hermeto and Maxima P. Vicente, Rod immigrated to United States in 1984 and has been a lifelong resident of Arlington, Virginia. He was employed by ExxonMobil where he retired in December 2004. Rod served as Chairman of the Pastoral Council at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was an active member of many Catholic Charismatic Prayer groups in the Washington DC Metro area where he was regarded as “Daddy Rod”. He was also instrumental in starting Jesus My Friend Catholic Charismatic Group at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Rod was an avid golfer in his spare time.
He leaves his beloved wife of 47 years, Evelyn R. Vicente; his daughter, Ruby-Carla Vicente Lorenz and her husband Sean M. Lorenz; his son Rod-Eric R. Vicente; his daughter Rose-Yvette Vicente Holbrook and her husband Robert Holbrook; his five grandchildren, K-Lea Morck, Erica Vicente, Zoe Vicente Lorenz, Melina Vicente, and Dean M. Lorenz; his only sister Julieta Macaraeg; and many close friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday April 11, 2013, from 4-9 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA 22003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church located at 3305 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA 22041.
