On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, of Arlington, VA. Ruby was born on March 20, 1920 in Talladega County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Thomas G. Edmondson and Emma Pike Edmondson. She married Baxter O. Smith, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before her beloved Baxter passed away on January 21, 2014. She is survived by one sister, Ellie Brooks, and husband Murray, of Westland, Michigan. She is predeceased by her sisters Violet E. Bottenfield, Eunice E. Justice, and Juanita E. Sites.
Ruby was a career employee with the Department of Interior in Washington, DC until her retirement. She loved gardening, being involved in civic and community affairs, and spending time with family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday September 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Arlington Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA. Friends may call at the funeral home on September 23, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens, 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA.
