Spyridon Aspiotis died peacefully in the evening of June 19th from dementia, which he endured with grace and dignity for the final years of his life. He is survived by Louvette, his wife of 57 years; his sons, Alexander and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Turkan; and his grandchildren, Devin and Esrin.
Spero was born in Washington D.C. to Alexandros and Eleftheria Aspiotis who came to America from the Greek island of Corfu. Like his parents, he proudly integrated into American life. He attended The George Washington University and after graduation, he was accepted to the officer’s candidate school for the Coast Guard. After serving as a reserve officer for 20 years, he retired with the rank of Commander. Spero had a distinguished career as a technology executive with Hughes Computers, Automatic Data Processing, and Wolf Computers. A longtime resident of Arlington, VA, he generously shared his kindness, faith, and positivity with his community.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, and a grandfather who happily spoiled his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11am in Arlington, Virginia.
Donations can be made in his memory to Goodwin Living Foundation or St. Mary's Episcopal Church (both linked below).
