

Wanda Mae (Smith) Miller, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away on January 22, 2026, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her passing leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of her family, but her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on through the many lives she touched.
Wanda was born in Riverton, West Virginia, to Curtis and Nellie Smith. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1948 and began her working years as a waitress at Sites Restaurant in Petersburg, West Virginia. She later moved to Arlington, Virginia, where she worked for several years at Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant. Wanda eventually settled in Sterling, Virginia, continuing her career at the All-American Grill before retiring. In her later years, she made her home in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she lived with her son, Terry Miller, and granddaughter, Amanda King.
Wanda was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and unwavering devotion to her family. Family was always at the center of her life. She found joy in cooking, reading, and collecting bells—simple pleasures that reflected her warmth and love of home.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis R. Secrist; her second husband of 41 years, Willie M. Miller; her parents, Curtis and Nellie Smith; her daughter, Pamela L. (Secrist) Stebbins; her brother, William Erman Smith, and his wife, Ruth; five infant siblings—Herman Edward, Ruthonell, Madeline Marie, Ella Gean, and Estyl Curtis Smith; as well as her brother-in-law, Ona Propst, and niece, Valerie (Propst) Mead.
Wanda is survived by her loving children: Cherri M. (Secrist) Bragunier and husband Allen of Hagerstown, Maryland; Jeffery C. Miller of Sterling, Virginia; and Terry G. Miller of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
She is also survived by her sister, Violet Propst of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and her aunt, Margie Smith of Riverton, West Virginia.
Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren: Amanda King, Charles Bragunier, Michael Bragunier, Jennifer Warrenfeltz, Kimberly Alvarez, Ryan Miller, Josh Miller, Patrick Stebbins, and Cindy Stebbins; her eleven great-grandchildren: Brittany Vent, Pamela (“Allie”) Townsend, Madalynn Best, Kaylynn Warrenfeltz, Christopher Alvarez Jr., Aidan Alvarez, Savannah Bragunier, Brennan Bragunier, Cody Stebbins, Michael Watson, and Robert Morris (RT); and her five great-great-grandchildren: Vincent Miller, Dylan Miller, Samuel Watson, Serenity Morris, and Charlotte Best.
She is further survived by her grandsons-in-law, Christopher Alvarez Sr. and Thomas Warrenfeltz; her granddaughters-in-law, Kathy Stebbins and Jackie Miller; and her great-grandson-in-law, Ryn Best.
Wanda is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will forever cherish the love and kindness she shared so freely.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be on Friday, February 6th from 10 AM to 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA 22203.
Wanda will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved her.
