After a long illness with kidney disease, Dean passed into the hands of the Lord at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Catherine; his parents, Thorvald and Marie Olsen; son, David Olsen; and great-grandson, Jorden Olsen. He is survived by his children, Denise (Jim) Wardell, Reeny Olsen, Dean Olsen, D'Andrea Olsen (Robert Stedman); 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces; and nephews; and other family members. In 1989 Dean made history in his community by becoming the first full time Chief of the Arlington Fire Department. He served the city in that role until he retired in 2001, odd as his last day was on the Nisqually Earthquake. Private family only service will be held.
