

Edward S. Soper passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 21st 2012. Edward was born on March 1st, 1923 in Tacoma, WA to parents, Edward and Louise Soper and was the first of three children. Edward grew up in Arlington, WA where he attended Trafton School, a one room school house. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1941. He went to Washington State College until he was inducted into the army in 1942. He was stationed on Kodiak Island and then Spartanburg, SC until the end of the war. He returned to Washington State College to go on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture in 1949. Ed was a vocational agriculture teacher for many years throughout Washington. After teaching, he took a job as a field man for the Holstein Friesian Breeding Assoc. He went on to become the National Fieldman for the Northwest, covering 7 states. Ed married Maxine Swanson on April 28th, 1962. They lived in Seattle and had 2 children, Scott and Laurie. He became a licensed real estate broker specializing in farm and land and started his own business, Washington Farm and Land Company. He was also a very involved and active father, and volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader and basketball coach. Ed and Maxine loved to go to Arizona in the winter and had a second home in Mesa, AZ where he enjoyed playing tennis. They were also active members of the Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church and a member for the Tillers Fellowship group for over 45 years. After his wife Maxine passed away in 2007 he met his current wife, Bonnie Schultz. They lived in Mesa, AZ over the winter and would return to Lake Forest Park in the summer. Ed was an energetic man who always had a positive outlook on life and a generous personality. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, son Scott Soper (Renita), daughter Laurie Schick (Jamie) and 5 grandchildren, Anna, Elise, Megan, Corbin and Isla, as well as his sister Elizabeth Bachman. There will be Memorial Service at Lake Forest Park Church on Sunday, Oct 28th at 2pm.
