Judy Gail Zuchowski

She was born on January 27, 1945, in Seattle, to Elizabeth and Leo Stevenson. Beloved sister of Lee and Colette. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, son John (Karen), daughter Rachelle (Greg), and step-children Zina, Rick and Rob, several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Raised in West Seattle, she loved helping her father at his shoe shop and going fishing whenever possible. The family had many road trips with Judy in the front seat, holding a coffee can in her lap as she always got car sick.

Judy played the drums in the marching band and graduated from West Seattle High in 1964. Quick-witted, and a great sense of humor, but when she raised her left eyer brow, you knew you were in trouble.

A few years after graduation, she gave birth to John and four years later Rachelle. Working hard as a cashier at Lucky’s for many years, and being a single parent, she loved to play volleyball, swim down at Alki and root her children on during their many sporting events. She was the Den Leader for John’s Cub scouts and the loudest parent on the sidelines during Rachelle’s soccer games. She was the “Cool Mom”, driving her hotrod red Mustang.

Judy met her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Zuchowski and instantly had a new skip in her step, broad smile and glow about her. When she told him she had her own 270 rifle, he was hooked. They married in 1982 and enjoyed several years together in West Seattle before moving to Cle Elum in 1999, where the fun really started. Lots of camping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. She worked at the South Cle Elum Post Office for several years.

You could always find her in her gardens or making every type of craft project imaginable. Quilting, stamping, pine needle basketing and sewing. She cherished every minute she spent with her grandchildren and was an amazing Mother.

Heaven gained a beautiful Angel when Judy was called home.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 20th at the Swauk-Teanaway Grange Hall from 1-4.
