

Keith Thomas Sarkisian, 89, passed away March 30, 2013 at his home in Arlington, WA. He was born to Nick and Edna Sarkisian September 6, 1923 in Oakland, CA. As a young boy he went to live first in Seattle, WA where he started his schooling in 1929 and then on to La Conner, WA to live with the Ernie Bell family (aunt and uncle). He attended La Conner schools and graduated from La Conner High School, where he was student body president, in 1942. He went on to college at Washington State College (now WSU), during his college years he spent two years in the Army Air Corp. (cadet corp.) in World War II, returning to graduate in 1950. He began and spent his entire teaching career at Arlington High School, from 1950 to 1982. After retirement he took a job with Snohomish County Noxious weed Board for 12 years, retiring in 1998. He was involved for many years in the Arlington Kiwanis Club, holding many offices through the years. He also was co-chairman with Bob Weller for the Legion Avenue of Flags (Post 76 American Legion). In 2006 he and Margaret purchased a smaller home in Arlington and Keith continued his vegetable gardens in several locations (including the Arlington City garden) with the help of good friend Ray Knudson. A much loved and respected member of the City of Arlington he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Keith was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Reita Arnot in January of this year. Keith is survived by his loving wife Margaret Sarkisian; children, Stephanie (Jim) Burns, Nick Sarkisian, Tanya Desloover, Nathan (Shelly) Sarkisian; sister, Corrine Swanson, step-daughters, Terri (Tom) Witte, Diane (Bud) Nameck, Patti (Wade) Ellsworth; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
