A memory of Bob. In late 1970's a neighbor attempted suicide. Upon arriving home from school her 9 yr. son found a note in their refrigerator stating that she had gone down to the creek (Pilchuck) to end her life. This boy, a friend of our son's, called me stating this and could  we come help find her. Fortunately, Doug had the foresight to stop by William's house to see if Bob home from work and if he could accompany us.  He did and we found the mother lying on the beach, still alive. Bob called for an aide car.  However, the only path to remove her was impassable because of spring rains and deep mud.  Doug, out on Stanwood/Bryant road flagged down a pick-up, the bed full of split fire wood. This pick-up was able to back into the beach, they were able to get the patient onto a stretcher and up onto the back of the wood pile in the pick-up, then back out to S/B road and into the aide car and on to the Arlington hospital. The patient lived and we thanked Bob for his assistance.

Bob was a soft voice person who gave me a lot of advice and leadership when I first joined the department in 1973. He will be missed.

Dear Betty and Family: I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Bob. He will always be remembered as a kind and caring man who was an inspiration to many.

My condolences to Bob's family.  First and foremost all those who loved him had good reason to do so.  In 1976, I interviewed with SCSO for a counseling position in the jail.  Bob was part of the hiring process which included a polygraph exam administered by him.  Even though I was intimated by the process, he made me feel comfortable as could be.  Bob's recommendation began a 30 plus career with Snohomish County.  I began as a jail counselor and completing my service as an Detention Administrator with Superior and Juvenile Court.  His faith in me instilled an acceptance of those who may not be perfect, but can contribute beyond expectations.  It is difficult to place a professional success upon a single individual or event but Bob's recommendations came as close as it could be.  With deep respect and admiration Bill Engnes.

Bob was a very good example of a proud man Don worked with him for many years what a good person.  Sorry can;t come to the service we still have our place in Lake Havasu you guys and my Mom and rudy showed how nice it in Arizona in the Winter  Thank you always loved you both.

Betty & Family,  Bob was a wonderful inspiration to us as a fellow RVer  and a good man.  May he rest in peace.

Betty and family, sorry to read of Bob's passing.  He was a valued friend and a man that taught me many valuable life lessons on being a public servant and true friend.
