Bernice M. Eppes Giovanoni

GIOVANONI, Bernice (nee Eppes) ,75, of Arnold, Mo,. fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Bernice was born on November 27, 1940, as the second daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Doerhoff) Eppes. She was mom to Karen Giovanoni, Gina (Mike) Miller, Carla Giovanoni, Angela (Alan) Lohrum and the late Helen Giovanoni. She was grandma to Emma Giovanoni, Teresa (Jonathan) Crock, Brian (Danielle) Giovanoni, Kevin Renner, Rebecca (Bobby) Schall, Kate (Dylan) Hogan, Lucy Miller and Zakkary (Ashley) Lohrum. She was great grandma to Pyrdyna Crock, Helen Crock, Annabelle Giovanoni, Charlotte Lohrum, Haylie Giovanoni, Jacob Schall and Luke Schall. Bernice was the dear sister of Ken (Valerie Meyer) Eppes and the late Ruth Ann Fredendall. She was a loving aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Bernice grew up in Fenton, MO., attending St. Paul’s Elementary School and St. John’s High School. Following high school she graduated from St John’s Nursing School in 1961 and began working as an RN. She was married in 1962 and soon had a daughter. And then a second and another… Divorced in 1977, she raised five daughters on her own. She would take time off with each birth to spend time as a full time mother, and would then return to nursing. After working nights in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) for over 30 years at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, she retired in 2006.

She was active as a parishioner at St. John’s Catholic Church for over 50 years when she was able. Her faith was very important to her.

Mom (aka Grandma) enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She kept up with their growth and interests, attending graduations and school events as she was able. She was strong, respected and loved by many. She will be missed by all who knew her.

SERVICES: A visitation will be held from 3-7 pm, Friday, September 30, 2016 at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd, Arnold. A rosary will be offered at 6 pm during the visitation. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 4614 Blue Springs Rd., Imperial. There will be a visitation in the church from 10-11:00 am before the mass. Interment will follow the mass in St. John’s Cemetery.
