Jerry was a good friend that I think about almost every day. Always had a great story and fun to be around. He gave not only to his country but to the community through his volunteering. Will always be thankful for having him as a friend and will continue to share stories about Jerry with mutual friends.

Jerry,  May our gracious sovereign LORD grant you peace while you await the resurrection that we will all see.  I'm so sorry that I was unable to visit nor attend your services.   

Joan and Eddy, please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss.  I know that my feeble words are nothing at this time.  Just know that Jerry was very well thought of by so many.  All three of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

It is with much sadness in our hearts to say goodbye to our dear friend, Jerry.  He was a great inspiration in our lives and always  saw the positive in life's challenges. We remember him as  always having good things to say about everyone.  NO, was not part of his vocabulary, Yes I Can do that, will be remembered.  We will dearly miss this Gentle Giant.
Joan,  Ed and Family, and all of Jerry's dearly beloved Martial Arts Family, we are so sorry for your great loss. Jerry was a rock of strength to all that knew him, a great mentor and friend. Regardless of how busy his schedule was he & Joan would take out time to see Mike and I on many of the trips we took to St. Louis over the last 20 years when we'd stop to see Mr Shin. I am deeply saddened by the passing of my uncle. I was so happy to reconnect with him after a 50 year absence. I have enjoyed getting to know a bit about him and other family members, and sharing some chatting. Thank the lord for the internet. I will miss him dearly..

There are no words, only profound sadness and prayers for MomJoan, Ed, and family.  Jerry holds a very special place in our hearts and always will.... Joan, Ed and family so very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing.  Enjoyed many powwows with you all.  Jerry was very interesting and knowledgeable man to talk with, on a variety of subjects.  I still have the Cowboys jersey he gave me.   Chuck Hitz sends his condolences.  Jerry will be missed.  Prayers for you all.

Keeping the Smith families in my thoughts & prayers. Gary & I have known Jerry for as long as we have known Ed. My grandson and I both received our yellow belt from Master Jerry and Ed, in Moo Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do. I had the pleasure of serving with Jerry on several River Trails Adult Leader Training Staffs with the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

I have the privilege of experiencing and developing  my martial art from  Master Jerry.

Learning from Master Jerry has been a lifetime experience.

As part of our history,  Jerry was a tireless supporter of Grandmaster Shin and Moo Do Kwon.

Jerry a Very giving and kind person both him and Joann .there was not ever a time to be around the smith family and not walk away with some love in your soul and a smile on your face.  

I have known the Smith family for many years.   They were kind and generous people to all.   Joan I am so sorry.   My deepest condolences and prayers.   Ed you are like a son to me.   So sorry for you and family.  He will always be with you in your hearts.

I don't remember the exact month, but the year was 2007.  I was going through chemo for breast cancer and I had asked Jerry if he would trim my hair, as it was coming out.  He and Joan had me over for dinner.  When I took my scarf off Joan looked and said, "I think you need to cut it off."  So, Jerry took me out to the back deck and "buzzed" the longer hair off.  After dinner he sat me in the kitchen and very carefully shaved my head.  I will always remember the  care he took while shaving my head.,  I love you brother in law and will miss you .

Always will remember the wonderful  food and laughs  We had with Jerry many times the smith family would be the 1st families to start setting up camp and would always have something eat to share  We would have good time eating and visiting. Thank you again Jerry for making time the YoungBucks always in our heart and prayers thank you for your service.

It has been a great honor to have been a friend to Jerry and Joan for over 30 years in the Scouting program.  I first met Jerry at S-F sharing a campsite for summer camp.  Got to know him well that week and many weekends after.  I served under him when he was the District Commissioner which was a job he did well.  I will truly miss  him.  My thoughts and prayers are with Joan and the rest of the family during this most difficult time.  

My thoughts and prayers are with Jerry’s family.  I worked many years at Graybar with Jerry. He was a joy to work with.  A man of integrity and hard work.  Jerry would always lend a helping hand and did not hesitate to stand up for people or something he believed in.  I know he always enjoyed the yearly golf tournaments we would have for the department and would always make sure his team would have the most fun.  God bless Jerry!  We will see you in the next life.
