Marvin Dale Lutes of Imperial, MO passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the age of 63. Marvin was born in New Eagle, PA on April 7, 1948 to the late Harvey Lloyd Lutes and Mildred Louise (Daniel) Morris. Beloved husband of Denise Marie Lutes (nee Shaulis). Loving father of Daniel Alfred (Amy) Lutes and Joseph Michael Lutes. Dearest grandfather of Aeris Rai Lutes. Dear brother of Patricia A. Lutes, Daniel E. (Kathy) Morris, Douglas B. Morris, Harvey (Robin) Lutes and Carrie (Michael) Vanderlee and families. Dear son-in-law of Alfred E. (the late Helena T.) Shaulis and Doris B. Smith. Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and dear friend to many.
Marvin proudly served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and 25 years in the U.S. Marshal Service. Marvin said of his beloved wife, Denise, that he could not have chosen a better life partner. He was a strict confidant, mentor, and best friend to his elder son, Daniel. One of his proudest moments was when he presented his U.S. Marshal Service credentials and badge to his younger son, Joseph. His career was his mistress and took him all over the world. Marvin was known within the Marshal Service for tracking and apprehending escaped convicted spy Christopher "the Falcon" Boyce. For this and other cases, Marvin was one of the individuals Tommy Lee Jones based his character Deputy U.S. Marshal Samual Gerard in the 1993 movie The Fugitive, a film which Marvin also served as the technical advisor. He played Santa to many unsuspecting children for over 20 years. Marvin was known for his gregarious personality, sense of humor, and no-nonsense communication style. The family would be remiss if they didn’t mention the special bond he shared since childhood with 4 men: Bruce Beeles, Richard Golden, Jack Sewock and Tony Zullo.
He was also a member of the Concord Trinity United Methodist Church, President of U.S. Marshal Service Association, the El Katif Shriners Temple, the Masonic Lodge of Kentucky, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Arnold, MO, Elks Lodge of Arnold, MO, and the American Legion of Blaine, WA.
