Peggy J. Hicks

HICKS, Peggy Jeane (nee Thomas), 83, of Barnhart, MO passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 9, 2016. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to Jim Hicks. Peggy was the daughter of the late Elbert “Eb” Thomas and the late Gertrude Thomas (nee Carter). She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas. Peggy was the loving mother of Mark (the late Kimmi Jo) Hicks, Brad (Rebecca) Hicks, Jamie (Rory) Abernathy, Jim Hicks and the late Judy Gail Pillow. She was the beloved grandmother of 12 grandchildren, and great grandmother of 8. She enjoyed cooking, drove her husband crazy watching cooking shows, made people eat when they visited and rarely missed her Friday appointment at the hair dresser. She could often be found organizing or cleaning something and was not one to sit still for any length of time. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her best friend, Mavis, and loved sitting on her deck watching the birds. She looked forward to the trek of the deer across her backyard each day. She especially enjoyed family and friends visiting her and enjoyed board games which evolved into a weekly game day during the winter. She had an eye for coupons and loved to shop. She enjoyed her final shopping trip with Katelyn just a month ago and had a blast.

Services: Visitation for family and friends will be held 2-6 pm Sunday June 12, 2016 at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold MO 63010. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, June 13, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at Shepherd Hills Cemetery.
