Pat was born on December 19, 1937, in Springfield, Ohio, to Robert and Nina Lantz. She lived in South Charleston, Ohio, before moving with her family to Athens, where she graduated from high school. It was there that she met and dated her future husband, Roger McInturf. Pat attended Ohio University for one year before enrolling at the Miami Valley School of Nursing, graduating as an RN. She married Roger in Athens on September 12, 1958. She then moved to Columbus to work as an RN while Roger finished veterinary school at OSU. Together, they spent Roger’s first year out of school working for a mixed practice in Danville, VA.
