Alice G. Moore

Alice G. Moore, 93, of Ashland, went to be with Jesus for Christmas on December 14, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Moore. Alice lettered in basketball at Appomattox County High School and was a 4-H Allstar. She attended Madison College and Smithfield-Massey Business College. She worked as an assistant to the Alumni Director for 15 years at Randolph Macon College, a book keeper and assistant manager at Flower’s Apparel Shop, and helped her daughter at The Flower Depot for 32 years. She was a Brownie Scout Leader for 12 years. Alice was a member of AARP and Henry Clay Homemaker’s Club. She was a faithful member of Ashland Presbyterian Church for over 70 years and active in The Day Circle. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Pin by the Presbyterian Women of the Church. She is survived by her children, Betsy McLeod, Mary Lou Hardie, and Nancy Moore; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005 and on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 10:00a.m. at Ashland Presbyterian Church, 401 Virginia Street, Ashland, VA 23005, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
