AUSTIN, Althea Melvina Lisk, entered eternal rest May 24, 2014, after completing nearly 98 years on this earth with friends and family. She was born in Evergreen Long Island, N.Y. on July 6, 1916 and moved to Ashland, Va. with her husband, John W. "Jack" Austin in 1968 to enjoy retirement. Jack preceded her in death in 1970, and she chose to remain in Virginia with her adoptive family, the Mallory's. She shared with the Mallorys her extended family (Lisk and Secor) that remained in New York over the years. A memorial service will held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beaverdam United Methodist Church, Beaverdam. A reception will follow.
