LOVING, Alvin Forest, affectionately known to many as "Pop", 85, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2019. Alvin was the son of the late Herbert and Julia Loving. He was preceded in death by his wives Maxine Loving and Eleanor "Honey" Loving. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired after many years from the I.R.S. Alvin was a life long member of Slash Christian Church and a charter member of the Clay Springs Ruritan Club. He was survived by his children, Janice Loving (Connie), Donald Loving (Ann), Jo Ann Loving, Bev Harris (Lynne), and Frank Harris; grandchildren, Rebecca, Megan, Caitlin, Travis, Rachel, Windy, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Mason, Cooper, Jason, Olivia, Tucker, and Carter; Siblings, Doris L. Tignor, Herbert T. Loving, and Barbara Jean Goodman. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Nelsen Funeral Home- 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 am at Slash Christian Church- 11353 Mount Hermon Rd., Ashland, VA 23005 with an interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Slash Christian Church.
