Blake, Ann Hardy “Honey”, of Richmond, VA passed away on February 26, 2016 after a courageous battle against cancer. Born April 21, 1944 in Richmond, she was the daughter of Ann and Junie Blake. She spent most of her life in Richmond where she raised her family, established Dabney’s Bakery (a favorite of locals) and enjoyed her role as daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her compassion, devotion to her children, sense of humor and love for all God’s creatures – most of whom she fed daily in her backyard. She is survived by her three children; Richard Heath Dabney III, Virginius Beauford Dabney, wife Betsy and Sarah Dabney Ransone, husband Trip; her three grandchildren, Kathryn Ann Dabney, Turner Beauford Dabney, and Dabney Owen Ransone; her brother Alfred L. Blake III and her sister Linda Blake Gayle, husband Jeff, and nephews John Gayle, wife Anna and Blake Gayle, wife Heidi. The family is very grateful for the kindness and loyalty of Chandra, Erica, Ronda, Tracey, and Sherrina who tended to Honey in recent months. We also want to especially thank the incredibly compassionate and competent staff at Hospice of Virginia at Retreat Hospital. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Monday, February 29 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Richmond SPCA at 2519 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23220.
