

Ben was born September 15, 1937, in Takoma Park, Maryland, the son of the late Eleanor Howard Patterson and the late William P. Waldenmaier.
After high school graduation. Ben served in the United States Navy on the USS Intrepid. He later operated streetcars and buses in Washington, D.C. Ben worked for the General Service Administration and retired from the federal government in 1994. Shortly after that he operated buses and subway trains in Washington, D.C.
His love of trains took him across the country three times and once across Canada, as well as many other train trips. He also loved to read. Ben was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church where he volunteered to paint all of the Sunday school classrooms. He will be greatly missed. He married Joellen Shell Lambert on June 26, 1976, in Hyattsville, Maryland.
Ben is survived by his wife, Joellen; Sons, Robert Waldenmaier of Johnson City, TN, Harold Lambert of Ormond Beach, FL, Stephen Lambert of Loganville, GA. Rod Lambert of Longwood, FL, and Scott Lambert of Pace, FL; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his sister Linda Darker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Terry and his brother, William.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 3PM to 7PM at Nelsen Funeral Home located at 412 S Washington Hwy, Ashland VA, 23005. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at a TBD time at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church located at 201 Henry St, Ashland VA, 23005. A burial will be held at Quantico National Cemetery the following day, Monday 14, 2022 at 11:30AM located at 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle VA, 22172.
