

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Grothman; father, Woodrow A. Olson; mother, Irene V. Olson; and sister, Loren H. Olson.
Cassandra spent over 35 years enjoying the art of stained glass. She also had a knack for scrapbooking and was known as a crochet master. She lovingly crafted baby blankets for over a dozen little ones. Besides her artistic pursuits, Cassandra found joy in shopping, gardening, and spending time outdoors. She especially enjoyed game nights with her friends.
Cassandra and her husband traveled around the world and across the country. She loved her family and all her friends dearly. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother and wife. Cassandra also loved her cat, Cody, and dog Boaz. Above all, she loved God and our savior Jesus Christ. She was a devoted Presbyterian member of New Hanover Presbyterian Church and Aberdour Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel C. Douglas Sr.; her children, Paul Grothman (Sherry), and Julie Grothman; step-children, Bryan Davis, Chris Douglas, Jodi Douglas, and Kelly Emmons; God-son, Joey Tomasian; grandchildren, Ashley McDowell, Andrew Grothman, and Alan Chance; great-grandchildren, Khari Jones, Milana Jones, Akyra McDowell, and Aniya McDowell; siblings, Christine Wentzel, Corlis L. Bresette, Barry O. Olson, Ruth A. Bell, and Stuart W. Olson, PhD; and numerous other family members.
A celebration of life for Cassandra will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at New Hanover Presbyterian Church, 10058 Chamberlayne Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23005.
