David Ray Taylor Sr.

David Ray Taylor Sr., 73, of Ruther Glen, passed away on January 29, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, David Ray Taylor Jr.; sister, Bessie Lee Brown, and brother, Richard Monroe Taylor, Jr. David was the son of the late Mary and Monroe Taylor. He enjoyed playing golf and loved watching the Yankees and Redskins play. He served his community in several ways including as Governor of the Chesapeake District Ruritans and as the Secretary of Reedy Church Ruritans. David is survived by his wife, Jean C. Taylor; children, Douglas Taylor (Jennifer), Jackie Clingenpeel (David), Daniel Taylor (Jennifer); grandchildren, Taylor, Emma and Hannah; sisters, Ida May Nelson and Mary Anne Nelson as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 3pm. Interment will follow at Carmel Baptist Church Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reedy Church Ruritan Club, 26238 Sunshine Road Route 648 Ruther Glen, VA 22546.
