Epps, Ellen “Maxine”, 87, of Ashland, passed away on September 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Epps; parents, George and Mayme Alvis; brother, Walter; and sister, Phyllis. She is survived by her son, Tony Epps; 3 grandchildren, Heather (Darrell), Josh, and Jake; 2 great-grandchildren, Eden and Brianna; sister, Nell (Roy); and brothers, Rudy (Patty), and Daryl (Darla). Maxine was a member of Gwathmey Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A graveside service will take place at 1pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, VA.
