Freda Jane Oliver

She was preceded in death by her Husband, James Lake Oliver; her Parents, Claude and Bernice Sparks; and her Brother-in-law, Art McKinney.

Freda was retired from Fairfax County Virginia government. She completed a year of college at William and Mary.

She is survived by her three daughters, Diana and her husband Bob of Bellefonte, PA, Susan of Hopedale MA, and Janine and her wife Diana of Foster, RI; her grandchildren, Patrick, Liam and his wife, Nicole, Keara, Jordan, Riley, Ari and Eli. She is also survived by her sister, Jerry McKinney of Ashland and numerous nieces and nephews.

Freda was an avid gardener and loved to play golf and spend time with her family and pets. She and her husband Jim adopted Ashland as their second home after leaving the hustle and bustle of Fairfax County, Virginia upon retirement and became active in the Ashland Farmers Market. She became a Master Gardner during retirement and learned beekeeping, played bridge and loved spending time with family, including her many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and reception will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24th in the Nelsen Funeral Home's Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland.
