James Lynn Tuck

TUCK, James Lynn, 70, of Elmont, passed away on May 23, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Lenard W. Tuck Sr.; sister, Evelyn Tuck Brannon; and brother, William Dennis Tuck. Jim grew up in Lakeside, graduated from Henrico High School and following graduation, joined the Army National Guard. He had found the love of his life as a young teenager just a few blocks from where he grew up, and in March, 1969, Jim and Dianne Falconer were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Richmond. During that time, he started his career in his father’s appliance business in Lakeside and continued in that field of work for himself and with Circuit City. Jim and Dianne found their home in a century old house in Elmont and there they worked together, restoring the house and raising their family. In recent years he enjoyed woodworking and building replicas of prominent buildings in the Hanover area and following a devastating fire that destroyed their home, they rebuilt a house on the same site. Jim was devoted to his wife and family and adored by his grandchildren. His faith and observance of the Golden Rule throughout his life endeared him to all who knew him. He was happiest in his home working on his projects, or hosting a pig picking or a fall Brunswick stew with a large gathering of family and friends. Through illness and adversity, Jim’s quiet nature belied a tenacity and faith that all things turn out the way they are supposed to. It was never more evident than during his last illness when he comforted those who loved and cared for him. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine Dianne Tuck; children, Christopher James Tuck (Julie), Natalee Tuck Eck (Drew) and Nathan Scott Tuck (Jenny); grandchildren, Chase, Claire, Aidan, Arynn, Katrina and Kyrie; mother, Mary Elizabeth Tuck of Lakeside; siblings, Lenard W. Tuck Jr. (Sonya) of Bon Air, Jeffrey W. Tuck (Terri) of Glen Allen, Tracie E. Tuck of Harrisonburg; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a mentor to young people, as good a friend and neighbor as anyone could want and as fine a brother as anyone might have. A private celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a future date.
