 Obituario de Janice Kay Chick
After a battle with cancer, Janice Kay Chick (73) passed away on Saturday, August 17th in her home, surrounded by loving family. Janice was a talented gardener, who cultivated a beautiful collection of plants in her home garden. She knew how to show her plants the love and attention they needed to grow and thrive, and the same can be said – even more so – for the love and attention she gave her family. Through her love came four children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild, each with whom she shared a special connection. More recently, Janice worked to obtain the Hanover County Emergency Response Team certification in order to serve the community that she loved. Her wit, sense of humor, and sharp tongue will be missed by all those who knew her. Janice is survived by her loving partner of ten years, Robert Kotrba; her children Brian Hopping (Cindy), Holly Maslanka (Joseph), Dawn Baker (Scott), and Jon Hopping (Heidi); her grandchildren Amber, Anthony, Noel, Nicholas, Tyler, Nathan, Katie, Haley, and Paul; great grandchild Alec; mother Mary Louise Faust; stepmother Dottie Chick; and siblings Patricia Brademyer, Connie Chick, Randy Chick (Shirley), and Buddy Chick (Amy). Janice was preceded in death by father Vern Chick and stepfather Lou Faust. Never one for formalities or making a fuss, Janice decided to forego a formal funeral. A private memorial will be held at a later date in her beautiful home garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden – one of Janice’s favorite places to spend a quiet afternoon. Visit giving.lewisginter.org to make a contribution.
