Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Trudy Melton. He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Hunter Melton; his father, Everett G. Melton, Jr.; his brother, Ben Melton, and wife, Ashley; his sister-in-law, Brittany Amos, and husband, Danny; and his father-in-law, David Hunter, and wife, Brenda. He is also lovingly remembered by his cherished nieces, Graycen Melton, Ella, and Emerie, and his nephew, Eli Amos.
Jay will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and deep love for his faith, family, and friends. His warmth and humor touched all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the lives he influenced and the memories shared by those who loved him most.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jay’s visitation at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA, on Thursday, November 20th, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, and where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 21st, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Calvary Christian Church Cemetery, Glen Allen, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jay’s surviving spouse, as she continues to cherish his legacy.
