Melton, Joan June, 82, went to be with the Lord May 3, 2017. Joan was born December 22, 1934, to the late Journey and Josie Melton. She is survived by her sister, Joy Melton (Eugene) Tiller. Also surviving are her nieces, Ann Tiller, Cindy (Al) Thomason; nephews, David (Dani) Tiller, and Barry Tiller. Other beloved family members are her great-nieces, Emily (Nicholas Smith) Thomason and Elizabeth Thomason. Joan graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1952 among a tight-knit group of students, most of whom remained in touch throughout their lives. She was a lifelong resident of Hanover County, and lifelong member of Winn’s Baptist Church. She loved nature, spending time with her friends and family, and traveling. Joan was a retired Verizon Employee. Friends and relatives are invited to the visitation at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held at Winn’s Baptist Church on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences can be made at www.nelsenashland.com.
