Lenard Lee Pennington

PENNINGTON, Lenard L., 73, of Ashland, passed away on June 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hiram and Mildred Pennington. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dorothy Wilson Pennington; sons, Ed Pennington (Lisa) of Orange Park, FL.; Russell L. Owen of Aylett, VA; three grandchildren, Alex, Katie, and Emma Pennington; two brothers, Willard V. (Esther) of Clarksburg, WV and Gary M. (Leisa) of Oak Hill, WV; nieces, Debby Toothman (Frank) and Shannon Leichnetz (Geoff) ; nephew, Scott Pennington (Emma); and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Lenard served in USN-Plankowner aboard USS Enterprise CV65. Lenard retired after 35 years with CSX Transportation. He loved spending time in Romney, WV, where he loved to go camping and fishing with many friends and family. He was an avid NASCAR fan for many years and he loved his Mountaineers! The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA. The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to sister-in-law, Joanne Wilson and niece, Shannon Leichnetz for their love, support, and nursing skills during this time, without them it would have been unbearable.
