Marie worked at the Bank of America, from which she retired. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Ashland and enjoyed dedicating her time to her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Cassell; brother, J. Murrell LaFoon; niece, Kathleen LaFoon; and nephew, Steve Al Musulin.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Lewis "Buck" LaFoon (Peggy); sisters-in-law, Hannah Anderson (Frank) and Jackie LaFoon; nieces, Pamela Bartholomew, Dreama Cullipher, Charlotte Strom, Allie LaFoon, Michelle Cole, and Cecelia Heins; cousins, Jon Massello and Laura Massello.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am to 1:00pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at The First Baptist Church in Ashland, 800 Thompson St., Ashland, Va where a funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery, 11310 Hanover Ave., Ashland, Va.
