Thelma May Stanley Moore

Thelma May Stanley Moore, 85, passed away on September 9, 2014 and is now singing in God’s choir. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Martin Waller. Mrs. Moore is an active member at Elon Baptist Church, where she organized the quarterly communion, had school supplies donated for Beaverdam Elementary, and for a number of years produced the church’s newsletter among several other acts of kindness. Thelma also was an active member of the Joy Club where she was Secretary for a number of years. Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband of 46 years, Waverly Moore; mother, Mary Lee Healy; son, Ronald A. Martin (Debbie); daughter, Brenda Martin-Christoph (John); son-in-law, Robert E. Waller; grandchildren, Robert A. Waller (Beverly), Donald W. Waller, and Kristin A.M. Lough (Josh); great-grandchildren, James Hunter Waller and Morgan L. Waller and great-great-grandchild, Isabelle L. Smith. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elon Baptist Church, 14031 Verdon Rd, Ruther Glen, VA 22546. Interment will be at Elon Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elon Baptist Church in Thelma’s honor.
