

Wayne Cornelius Rapp, age 79, departed this life on Thursday, February 19, 2026, following ongoing cardiac complications. He was a man of quiet strength and enduring love whose steady presence and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, James E. Rapp and Leila Catherine Rapp, and his brothers, James E. Rapp, Jr., and William L. Rapp.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Jane W. Rapp; his two sons, Jeffrey W. Rapp and his wife Ginger, and Michael F. Rapp and his wife Cyndi; and his two cherished grandchildren, MiKayla Rapp and Dylan Rapp, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
Throughout his life, Mr. Rapp exemplified unwavering devotion to his family, his community, and the values he believed mattered most. His steadfast commitment to Jane remained a defining constant, a testament to a love built on faithfulness, partnership, and deep respect. As a father and grandfather, he offered gentle guidance, steady encouragement, and a quiet wisdom that shaped the lives of those closest to him.
Wayne’s care extended far beyond his home, touching the broader Hanover community through his membership with the West Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad, his lifelong membership with the Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad, and his dedicated work with both local and state rescue organizations. His service was not for recognition, but from a sincere desire to help others in their moments of greatest need. He gave generously as a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church and worked and retired after 45 years from SunTrust Bank.
Wayne Cornelius Rapp will be remembered for his integrity, humility, and the love he so freely gave. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the community he faithfully served.

Relatives and friends are invited to Wayne's visitation on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 17420 Shiloh Church Rd, Montpelier, VA 23192, from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad.
